Description

Livoltek BLF-B51150 — 51.2V 150Ah LiFePO4 Battery (7.68kWh)

The Livoltek BLF-B51150 is a low-voltage, 51.2V 150Ah Lithium Iron Phosphate battery system designed specifically for residential energy storage and solar backup applications. Each module holds 7.68kWh of energy and is built around prismatic LFP cells with an integrated battery management system.

The three numbers that matter

Every battery decision comes down to energy, power, and lifespan. Here’s how the BLF-B51150 performs on each.

Energy — 7.68kWh stored, 6.9kWh usable.
Capacity in amp-hours multiplied by voltage gives energy: 51.2V × 150Ah = 7,680Wh. Livoltek rates the pack for 100% depth of discharge but recommends 90% for longevity, so plan your system around 6.9kWh per module. That covers a typical household evening — lights, fridge, TV, router, and a few appliance cycles — before the sun comes back.

Power — 5.12kW continuous.
The BMS allows 100A maximum charge and 100A maximum discharge. At 51.2V that works out to 5.12kW. This is a separate limit from capacity and it’s the one most often overlooked: a single module stores 7.68kWh but can only release it at 5.12kW. If you plan to run an 8kW or 10kW hybrid inverter at full output — an air conditioner plus an electric oven, say — you need two or more modules in parallel even if one would hold enough energy. The 100A rating equates to a gentle 0.67C discharge rate, which is part of why the cycle life is so high.

Lifespan — up to 6,000 cycles.
Livoltek tests at 0.5C charge/discharge, 25°C ambient, 90% DOD, to 70% end-of-life. That means after 6,000 full cycles the pack still holds 70% of its original capacity. At one cycle per day that’s roughly 16 years of daily solar cycling. Some distributor stock is graded at 4,000 cycles with 6,000 as an option — confirm which grade you’re being quoted.

Why LiFePO4 rather than NMC

Lithium iron phosphate has a stronger phosphate-oxygen bond than nickel-manganese-cobalt chemistry, so it does not release oxygen when overheated and will not sustain a thermal runaway cascade under normal fault conditions. It also contains no cobalt. The practical trade-off is lower energy density — an LFP pack is bigger and heavier than an NMC pack of the same capacity — which matters in a vehicle but not on a garage wall. For stationary home storage, LFP is the safer and longer-lived choice, and it holds a flat discharge curve so inverter output stays stable right down to the bottom of the pack.

Intelligent BMS and inverter communication

The built-in battery management system monitors every cell and provides balancing plus protection against over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, over-temperature and short circuit. It communicates with the inverter over RS485 or CAN, which means the inverter reads true state of charge reported by the battery itself rather than estimating from terminal voltage. This gives accurate SOC display, correct charge tapering at the top of the pack, and proper coordinated shutdown on faults. The unit is compatible with Livoltek’s hybrid inverter range and with common third-party low-voltage inverters.

Installation and physical design

The BLF-B51150 is a wall-mounted, indoor unit measuring 585 × 364 × 165.5 mm (W×H×D). Its IP21 rating protects against solid objects over 12.5mm and vertically dripping water only — this is not an outdoor battery. Install it in a garage, utility room, plant room or ventilated cupboard. If the installation site is exposed to weather, specify an IP65 alternative instead.

Cooling is natural — there are no fans, so the unit is silent and has no moving parts to wear out. The trade-off is that ambient temperature matters: charging is permitted between 0°C and 50°C and discharging between −10°C and 55°C. In a hot, unventilated room the BMS will throttle or halt charging to protect the cells, so allow airflow around the unit.

Modular expansion is by parallel connection, up to 5 modules for 38.4kWh total. Stacking also raises the combined power ceiling to 25.6kW, so adding modules increases both how much you store and how fast you can use it.

Certification and warranty

The BLF-B51150 carries CE, CB, RoHS, IEC 61000 and UN 38.3 certification. UN 38.3 is the transport safety standard for lithium batteries; IEC 61000 covers electromagnetic compatibility. Standard warranty is 5 years, with a 10-year extension available.

Choosing between the BLF-B51100 and BLF-B51150

Both models share the same chemistry, BMS, IP21 rating, communication protocols and 100A current limit. The difference is capacity and form factor:

BLF-B51100 BLF-B51150
Capacity 100Ah 150Ah
Energy 5.12 kWh 7.68 kWh
Usable at 90% DOD 4.6 kWh 6.9 kWh
Dimensions (W×H×D) 335 × 622 × 135.5 mm 585 × 364 × 165.5 mm
Max stack 5 modules / 25 kWh 5 modules / 38.4 kWh
Continuous power 5.12 kW 5.12 kW

Note the orientation flip — the 100Ah unit is tall and narrow, the 150Ah is wide and short. Check your wall space before ordering. Because both are limited to 100A, the 150Ah model gives you 50% more stored energy at the same power output, which makes it the better value per kWh for households whose priority is longer runtime rather than higher peak load.

Sizing guidance

  • Essential circuits backup (fridge, lights, router, a few sockets, roughly 500W average): one module gives approximately 13 hours.
  • Full evening self-consumption for an average home: one to two modules.
  • Whole-home backup with heavy loads (AC, electric cooking, well pump): three or more modules, both for the energy and for the 15kW+ power ceiling.

Always size for power first, then energy. A system that has enough kWh but not enough kW will trip on inrush from a compressor or pump start.
